Upgrade automotive interiors with Santoprene™ TPV ‘comfort-touch’ feel

Santoprene™ thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) are an outstanding choice for automotive interior applications because of excellent surface qualities that include:
- Comfort-touch feel
- High scratch and mar resistance
- Good abrasion and chemical resistance
- Low fogging and odor emissions
- Excellent colorability and stability
Good flow characteristics and excellent bonding properties with other materials promote greater design freedom, easier processing and reduced scrap rates.
Low-gloss, scratch-resistant ‘comfort-touch’ interiors
Santoprene TPV 8211-85M350 provides an improved scratch-resistant surface and significant system cost savings for both soft-touch painted polypropylene (PP) and PVC/thermoplastic olefin (TPO) skins used in:
- Door panels
- Center consoles
- B-C pillars
- Lower instrument panels
- Back covers of seats
Processed in one step using two-shot injection overmolding onto a rigid ExxonMobil™ polypropylene substrate, Santoprene TPV 8211-85M350 creates a warmer-feeling-touch, non-compressible surface that does not allow cushion-like deformation. It improves color flexibility versus paints/skins and reduces interior noise.
Grips and knobs
Door and handbrake handles can benefit from colorable and UV-stable Santoprene TPV grades such as 8221-85M300 and 8223-30M300. These grades add a dry and silky touch to interior surfaces and meet low-emissions standards.
Interior mats and cupholders
High-flow Santoprene TPV 8221-65/75M300 grades provide excellent colorable, low-emissions solutions for interior applications that require a soft touch. A non-greasy feel, lightweight and noise-dampening properties make these grades ideal for cup and coin holders, mats and steering column shrouds.
