Use Santoprene™ TPVs for low compression set and low-temperature elastic recovery in refrigerator seals and gaskets

Young couple appliance shopping looking at the interior of a new fridge/freezer

Santoprene™ thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) combine low compression set and excellent elastic recovery at low temperatures, making them ideal for refrigerator components, including:

  • Extruded or molded freezer interior gaskets
  • Cold air transfer ducts
  • Water dispenser and filter gaskets
  • Drain tubes and seals
  • Motor mounts and vibration dampeners

Parts consolidation
Bonding properties with polypropylene and engineered plastics such as polyamide and ABS help create better refrigerator seals. Santoprene TPVs can also reduce manufacturing costs by decreasing cycle time and assembly steps compared with thermoset rubber.

UL, NSF, FDA and RoHS certification
Santoprene TPV grades recommended for refrigerators, including NSF- and FDA-approved grades, are fully UL- and RoHS-compliant. This helps you get products to market faster.

Design freedom
The colorability, tight molding tolerances and compatibility of Santoprene TPVs with other materials, including our polypropylene products, support the design of cost-efficient components in step with latest market trends. Overmolded connectors for cold air transfer ducts are just one example.

Other elastomeric options
Vistamaxx™ propylene-based elastomers provide excellent clarity when added as a cold-temperature impact modifier to polypropylene, and they protect finished surfaces with inherent outstanding adhesive strength when co-extruded as a surface protective film.
