Santoprene TPVs have excellent sealing retention and elastic recovery in extreme temperatures (-40°C to 100°C). They are resistant to corrosive solutions and have excellent aging resistance to UV light, ozone and weather. These qualities allow Santoprene TPVs to provide durable sealing performance throughout the life of parts.

Santoprene TPVs give designers a high degree of flexibility when creating multipart systems. Its strength and lower specific gravity, compared to thermoset rubber materials, means designs can incorporate thinner walls and functional integration.

Santoprene TPVs' lower specific gravity, compared to EPDM rubber, reduces part weight by up to 25%. In some applications, because of its excellent bonding properties, Santoprene TPV has been used to replace metal components and decrease part weight by 50%.

Cost-effective and versatile processing capabilities

Cost-effective and versatile processing capabilities

Santoprene TPVs may reduce part cost as a result of their processing ease, excellent bonding properties and flexibility.

They can be processed using two-component (2K) injection molding to facilitate the design and fabrication of complex parts. Manufacturing assemblies may also benefit from faster cycle times and a reduction in production steps compared to thermoset rubber compounds. This is due to its good adhesion to other polymers, such as polypropylene (PP) and polyamide (PA). Together with hard/soft material combinations, this adhesive property provides opportunities for functional integration and the replacement of metal parts and adhesives.

In addition, Santoprene TPVs dimensional stability during part fabrication allows for tighter tolerances in part design compared to ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber, eliminating secondary trimming operations.
