Elasticity is of great interest to the personal hygiene industry as it is a key component of quality perception and helps prevent leakage. Vistamaxx PBE can allow complex trilaminate constructions to be replaced with more straightforward elastic solutions. You no longer have to rely on expensive polymers, such as styrenic block copolymers (SBC), laminated with nonwovens and requiring adhesives. With Vistamaxx PBE, converted either as film or as fibers, nonwoven and diaper designers can rethink component and diaper construction and manufacturing.



Vistamaxx PBE can provide manufacturers of nonwoven fabrics with possibilities to develop new kinds of soft nonwovens. It can be used to address consumer trends for softness and improved comfort in polypropylene (PP)-based nonwovens. Blended with PP, Vistamaxx PBE can deliver simple, cost-effective solutions for premium soft nonwovens. These soft solutions require minimal, if any, additional machinery investment and can be run on conventional state-of-the-art spunmelt equipment.



In hygiene applications, Vistamaxx PBE can enable new levels of softness to be delivered without compromising fabric strength and durability. It can also help manufacturers improve the toughness of fabrics by delivering low temperature sealing and excellent seal strength.



Elastic nonwoven fabric components made using Vistamaxx PBE in conjunction with new meltblown technology are breathable due to the nature of the meltblown layer and the elimination of an elastic film layer. In personal hygiene products, it is possible to produce fabrics with tailored softness to meet different end-user requirements.



Compared to materials such as carded PP nonwovens and bicomponent (bico) fabrics (PP core, polyethylene (PE) sheath), nonwovens containing Vistamaxx PBE demonstrate an attractive combination of performance, mechanical properties and cost savings. Using Vistamaxx PBE in a blend with homopolymer PP (hPP) resins creates nonwovens with properties that can be tailored to deliver enhanced softness, drapability and touch. As a result, Vistamaxx PBE is being used for nonwoven fabrics that come into contact with skin, including the top sheet.
