Vistalon™ EPDM rubber for outstanding strength and durability of industrial hoses

Single coil of a flexible yellow industrial hose lying on the grass beside muddy boot of a construction worker

Industrial hoses must be built to carry a variety of materials such as air, water, steam, oil or abrasive products under wide ranging pressure and temperature conditions. Vistalon™ ethylene propylene diene (EPDM) rubber is the appropriate material to perform in these conditions. Used in industrial hose formulations it delivers:
• Excellent tear strength
• Long-term aging resistance (UV, heat, steam)
• Outstanding flexibility
• Easy mixing and processing

General purpose industrial hose
For general purpose hoses, subjected to temperatures up to 125°C (257°F), high EPDM rubber grades such as Vistalon 5601 and 7001 offer high green strength for extrusion processing and braiding. Delivered as pellets, these materials can be compounded with high volumes of filler for low costs, while maintaining excellent physical properties.

Hot water and steam hose
For hot water and steam hoses, subjected to temperatures above 150°C (302°F), blends of Vistalon 706 (an EPM copolymer) and Vistalon 7001 (a highly crystalline EPDM rubber) offer good processing and retention of properties after long-term heat aging.

Performance in demanding conditions
For demanding applications that require high heat resistance, low compression set, and flexibility in cold conditions, we recommend Vistalon 2504, 3666 and 6602. Vistalon 3666 also offers high oil load ability.

EPDM rubber conveyor belts are used for heavy duty mining applications and must resist extreme conditions provided by hot minerals conveyed out of the mine. We recommend highly crystalline grades such as Vistalon 7001 and 5601 for their good processability, calendering and fast press cure.
