Reduced weight
The lower density of Santoprene TPVs, as compared to thermoset rubber and other thermoplastic elastomers, contributes to reduced part weight . For example, Santoprene TPV can deliver 29% weight savings for glass run channel (GRC) weatherseal systems compared to EPDM rubber and 25 to 45% weight savings for clean air ducts versus thermoset rubber compounds.

Santoprene TPVs can contribute to a reduction in overall waste in the manufacturing process as scrap produced during processing can be recycled.

Santoprene TPVs may contribute to reduced energy consumption, decreased chemical use and reduced manufacturing space, when compared to EPDM rubber.

  • Santoprene TPVs do not require heat curing – cutting manufacturing energy costs up to 50% compared to EPDM rubber.
