Isopropyl Alcohol
Isopropanol (IPA) is a clear, colorless, non-HAPs listed, volatile material with a slight odor. IPA has many chemical and solvent properties similar to those of ethyl alcohol, is miscible with water and soluble in most organic solvents.
IPA is widely used in a variety of applications including the following: coatings, cleaners, soaps and detergents, surfactants, and cosmetics. It is also used as a solvent and chemical intermediate.
IPA is produced by catalytic hydration of propylene. Availability of indigenous propylene feedstock at ExxonMobil's manufacturing site provides our IPA customers with increased supply reliability.
For many years, Exxon Mobil Chemical has been supplying high-purity and ultra-high-purity grades of IPA known as IPA SG "Semiconductor Grade". It is produced in a multi-stage proprietary process that offers very high product consistency and low levels of impurities.
