hydrocarbon & oxygenated fluids

Exxon™ methyl ethyl ketone (MEK)
Exxon™ methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) oxygenated fluids offer strong solvency and fast evaporative properties. They are not listed as a hazardous air pollutant under U.S. EPA regulations.
Exxon MEK capabilities
- Solvency power : For solutions of coating, adhesive and ink resins (polyurethane, polyester, acrylic, cellulose, polychloroprene), and for paint stripper formulations
- Fast evaporation : For thinners and industrial paint formulations, adhesives and extraction processes
- Low viscosity : Enabling high-solids formulations in coatings and adhesives
Exxon MEK is a key fluid in formulating polychloroprene adhesives, especially as a replacement for toluene, and is a component of many gravure printing inks. Other application areas include:
- Consumer products
- Extractive processes
- Pharmaceuticals
