Synthetic Fluids and Lubricants

Applications
Industrial Applications: Overview

Polyalphaolefins (PAO) and ester-based synthetic fluids are commonly used in industrial applications.

Synthetic base fluids outperform mineral oil-based products and provide many benefits including:
  • Extended lubricant service life
  • Improved thermal and oxidative stability—allowing for higher operating temperature
  • Improved volatility—allowing for less lubricant loss
  • Extreme flexibility—used in a wide range of operating conditions
  • Lower energy consumption
  • Improved wear protection
  • Reduced deposit formation

Our SpectraSyn, SpectraSyn Plus and SpectraSyn Ultra PAOs, and Esterex esters and Synesstic AN blendstocks are used in the following industrial applications:
  • Compressor Fluids
  • Gear Oils
  • Circulating Oils
  • Heat Transfer Fluids
  • Hydraulic Fluids
  • Mist System
  • Paper Machine
  • Greases
  • Oven Chain Lubricants
  • Turbine Oils

ExxonMobil Chemical’s synthetic PAO, esters and alkylated naphthalene offer many advantages for reciprocating, rotary vane and rotary screw air compressors. Compared with mineral oils, our synthetics offer the following benefits:
  • Higher resistance to oxidation and deposit formation.
  • Longer drain intervals.  Less wear.
  • Cooler operation and lower power consumption.
