Precautions
- Make sure you comply with all safety instructions from supervisors, signs, work permits and publications
- If you are not familiar with a particular operation or product, talk to your supervisor
- Smoke only in designated areas
- Never carry strike-anywhere matches or lighters without protective covers
- Check with the process control person prior to entering or leaving an operations area
Protective Clothing
- Secure any articles of loose clothing (shirttails, gloves, etc.) before working around moving machinery
- Wear steel-toed, leather shoes at all times, ones with a low heel that cover the entire foot
- Wear rubber boots if chemical contact is expected
- Wear flame resistant clothing (FRC) wherever flash fire possibility exists
- Rain suits, dust coveralls and chemically impervious suits may be necessary when working with corrosive or toxic materials
- Hard hats are recommended. They should not have metal tags or stickers that conduct electricity
- Wear approved industrial safety glasses in all areas
Environmental and Regulatory Requirements
- Health, safety and environmental information on ExxonMobil Chemical Company products may be found in product MSDSs or Environmental Data Sheets.
- Additional requirements may apply to some products as a result of state and local regulations or state administration of federal mandates. Information regarding these requirements should be obtained from the appropriate regulatory authority.
- Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulations applicable to ExxonMobil Chemical products that they use or handle.
