Jayflex plasticizers

Applications
Film, Sheet, & Coated Fabric

Introduction

Plasticized PVC film, less than 8 mil gauge (0.203 mm), and sheet, greater than or equal to 8 mil gauge (0.203 mm), are widely used products in consumer and industrial applications. They have gained popularity because they can be formulated using Jayflex plasticizers to meet the severest performance requirements.

Film and sheet products are manufactured either by an extruder or a calender at rates up to 8,000 lbs./hr (3,600 kg/hr). The dimensions of the finished product range in thickness from 0.002 (0.51 cm) to 0.05 inches (0.127 cm) and widths that can exceed 100 inches (254 cm). Due to such high production rates a great deal of emphasis is placed on processing requirements to minimize manufacturing errors and improve the finished product's physical properties.

Common Film and Sheet Applications that Use Jayflex Plasticizers:

  • Bookbinders
  • Roofing Membranes
  • Shower Curtains
  • Awnings

Coated Fabric

Coated fabric is a cloth substrate coated with a plastisol and oven cured to form a solid, yet flexible, final product. The surface can be finished with a specific texture like leather, or left smooth with no texture at all. The broad slate of Jayflex plasticizers available ensures that the requirements of good viscosity stability, processing and finished product performance properties can be met.

Common Coated Fabric Applications that Use Jayflex Plasticizers:

  • Household Upholstery
  • Tarpaulins
  • Billboards & Signs
