| | Labelling : Health and Beauty Care Health and Beauty care products requiring labels are generally packed in glass, HDPE, PP and PET bottles. To satisfy the market, the industry has developed a wide variety of formats to meet the needs of product presentation and offers solutions to satisfy most customer requirements. Nowadays, there are very few limits to creativity. Bottle shape and appearance of the label offer tremendous opportunities for product differentiation. Labels can be printed on white or clear, matt or gloss substrates, with the crucial factor being presentation. The product appearance should not be marred by poor label presentation. Using a plastic substrate such as Label-Lyte BOPP helps ensure that the label survives even the most humid conditions (for example in the bathroom) and also that it conforms to the contours of the bottle. Special conformable grades now allow OPP to work with even thinner bottles, while still permitting good label wipe down and the extra squeezability the thinner bottle provides. Labelling Technologies The most common using the Label-LyteTM range technology in this segment is self-adhesive labelling (PSA labelling). ExxonMobil offers top coated, white and transparent films. These latter emphasise bottle and product clarity and provide a "no label" look, while multi-label combinations can provide exciting 3D effects. Moreover, ExxonMobil’s new conformable PSA label film helps to ensure that labels apply consistently well and do not fail during the multiple squeezing to which these types of cosmetic containers are subjected. The Health and Beauty sector is dominated by a few large groups with global presence, together with some large national companies. Major players include Avon, Elida-Gibbs, Johnson & Johnson, Revlon, Coty, Procter & Gamble, l'Oréal, Max Factor and Unilever. Market share of the different categories varies to some extent from country to country due to climatic conditions, cultural differences and local consumer preferences.
