New Possibilities For Soap Bars

Soap bar packaging has become more trouble-free with the launch of humidity-resistant Bicor MBR666 film. Colgate-Palmolive is one of the first companies to exploit the various opportunities offered by the new transparent film.

Bicor MBR666’s structure and special proprietary coating provide a combination of properties that make it an attractive solution for soap bars. The film’s transparency and gloss create an exceptional appearance and it has an excellent surface for printing high quality designs for maximum shelf appeal.

“Bicor MBR666’s main benefits, however, are in the area of performance,” says product manager, Peter Haltenberger. “The film is coated both sides with a new generation acrylic coating, guaranteeing seal retention even in the most humid conditions. The coating technology also provides enhanced sealing properties, especially in low-pressure sealing conditions.”

Colgate-Palmolive has recently introduced a new line of soap-bar packaging based on Bicor MBR666, in which a double layer of the film is used in lamination.   The new structure replaces a 50µ OPP/OPP structure. The excellent machinability and stiffness of the laminate generates important benefits for Colgate in terms of cost and environmental impact.

Today, thanks to its consistently high performance on packaging machines and its cost-effectiveness, Colgate-Palmolive is using Bicor MBR666 for its soap bar packaging in many countries around the world, including Italy, Turkey, Mexico, Malaysia and India.
