HOUSTON - MARCH 17th, 2005 - ExxonMobil Chemical Company today announced plans to participate at the Interpack fair in Düsseldorf Germany, from April 21-27, 2005. Exhibiting at stand B13 in hall 7, the company will unveil exciting new products and technology. The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical will introduce several new OPP films including a very high barrier metallised film and a very low temperature sealing coating (VLTSC). It will also use Interpack as a launch pad to introduce its brand new line of coated polyester (PET) films. Additionally it will launch the exciting new PacVantage™ suite of secure internet-based technologies.
The Polyethylene Business of ExxonMobil Chemical, also exhibiting on the stand, will introduce a new slate of Nexxstar?, custom-designed PE resin formulations. And, the Advanced Elastomers business will display new packaging and labelling applications that incorporate Santoprene® thermoplastic elastomers.
New flexible packaging film products unveiled For the first time ever, ExxonMobil Chemical Films Europe will be offering to the packaging market a new line of coated polyester (PET) films. Leveraging the company's new coating facility in Virton Belgium, (which started up in early 2005), and significant R&D effort focused on coating substrates other than OPP film, the company will launch XPET 700 and XPET 800. These coated PET films, targeted for fresh food markets, lidding and MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) applications, represent the beginning of a new era for the company in the development of high performance films.
Additionally, the company will be launching a brand new Very Low Temperature Sealing Coating (VLTSC) for optimum packaging machine performance and high speeds. This new coating will allow packaging on HFFS machines at much improved speeds. Also on display will be some new films in the Metallyte™ range, which are set to provide major improvements in terms of barrier properties. New Metallyte 18XM383 using advanced barrier technology to provide very high barrier properties for a highly attractive metallised film alternative to aluminum foil will be launched at Interpack. This film provides among the best barrier properties available on the market for an uncoated metallised film. To complete the range of ultra high barrier Metallyte, a new EVOH coated barrier metallised film will also be showcased for the very first time at the show, offering excellent protection against oxygen and moisture.
As well as making films for the flexible packaging market, ExxonMobil has products for many labelling technologies. These include films for reel-fed wrap around, cut and stack, in-mould, self-adhesive and patch labelling. Examples of its increasing range of Label-Lyte™ products for the labelling industry will be on display.
PacVantage™ helps fast moving consumer goods move more efficiently PacVantage is a suite of secure internet-based technologies that goes beyond the company's traditional flexible packaging film offering. It is available for license and as a consultancy package from the Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical and provides the tools and systems to create real-time networks amongst players in the production, distribution and promotion of packaging for Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). The network of companies that use PacVantage technologies are uniquely positioned to bring FMCGs to market more efficiently; a feat that would be impossible for one company alone. The advantage of PacVantage will be demonstrated on stand with a fully working HP Indigo ws4050 digital press, as well as a Bosch Terra 25 vertical form fill seal packaging machine. Visitors to the stand will observe the full packaging workflow from design to packaged products, as well as take part in an active demonstration of remote collaborative colour and design management for specific package designs.
New Nexxstar™ resin formulations for packaging films The Polyethylene Business of ExxonMobil Chemical will take advantage of Interpack for the commercial launch of the second in its family of PE Nexxstar™ resin formulations. This innovative packaging solution has been specifically designed to help add value across the supply chain for converters, film suppliers and brand owners. Nexxstar resin formulated films for stretch hood, launched last year, will also be on display. Offering cost benefits, outstanding toughness and exceptional optical properties for end-of-line palletized goods, they are perfect for a host of applications including packaged foods, bottled goods and beverages, white goods and heavy duty sacks as well as packaging and building materials.
