|  | ExxonMobil Chemical Unveils Very Low Temperature Sealing Coating
(VLTSC) at Interpack 2005
HOUSTON - APRIL 20, 2005 - ExxonMobil Chemical is demonstrating it’s new very low temperature sealing coating (VLTSC) technology at Interpack 2005 in Dusseldorf, Germany April 21-25. Designed for optimum packaging machine performance and high speeds, this new coating technology allows packaging on horizontal form fill and seal (HFFS) equipment at improved speeds and reduced costs.
The ExxonMobil VLTSC technology enables the sealing range of its coated films to be expanded up to approximately 80 degrees Celcius, while meeting the demand for higher speeds from HFFS machines, as well as providing more operational flexibility.
Productivity improvement is a key benefit. On HFFS packaging machines, VLTSC coated films can be processed at up to approximately 100 metres per minute, equivalent to cold-seal packaging speeds. The expanded seal range allows these films to tolerate speed and temperature fluctuations for a wider operational window. The addition of a barrier coating to the film enables excellent printing and stiffness for horizontal packaging formats.
The ExxonMobil VLTSC technology will be demonstrated at Interpack 2005 with OPPalyte™ film on machines at the Bosch and Eurosicma stands. With good performance on HFFS machines, this film provides an excellent barrier for aroma and water vapor transmission (WVTr).
ExxonMobil VLTSC films will be offered in a variety of gauges; as transparent or white; for single web or lamination processes.
