New Diamex Technology Brings High Yield And Stiffness With Lower Density

ExxonMobil is introducing a new technology called Diamex that will extend its range of cavitated OPP films and bring new advantages to the market in terms of improved yield and mechanical properties.
For cavitated white films ExxonMobil already offers a broad spectrum of densities (0.62, 0.73 and 0.8) depending on the barrier and appearance requirements of the application. The new Diamex technology means cavitated films can be produced with a density of 0.54 kg/dm3, offering a yield improvement of 15% compared to the lowest density available until now.
Maintaining Mechanical properties
But the real breakthrough of Diamex technology is that improved yield is achieved while maintaining major mechanical properties.  With standard cavitated films, stiffness and modulus of elasticity both decrease when density decreases.  However, the stiffness and modulus of elasticity of 0.54 density Diamex film are the same as those currently observed in 0.62 density standard cavitated film.
ExxonMobil’s product range for Diamex extends to both flexible packaging and label applications, with the introduction of two new products:
38ICE DX*: 38 micron super low density film (0.54) for horizontal flowpack machines, using either heat seal or cold seal.
38DX247*: 38 micron super low density film (0.54) for reel fed wrap around labelling, providing an excellent controlled slip on the untreated side.
