| | Exxonmobil Broadens Its Range Of Anti-Static Label Films
ExxonMobil has strengthened its range of Label-Lyte Lithor anti-static films.
The new range includes a variety of cut & stack, in-mould and wet glue patch
films.
For wrap around cut & stack labelling, the Films Business now offers a
comprehensive range of Lithor films for clear, white and metallised
applications. Providing an optimum combination of anti-static properties,
printability and stiffness, the films have penetrated a market traditionally
dominated by paper, largely due to the additional benefits they offer.
Available in both clear and white films with gloss or matt appearance, the
films are already widely used in numerous applications from soft drinks and
mineral water to household products. Their features and benefits are outlined
below:
-
Lower film gauges
-
Higher label strength
-
Identical dry and wet strengths
-
Lack of mould growth in humid conditions
-
Better all round consistency of key properties
The Label-Lyte Lithor range now also includes glossy white (LTR741), matt
white (LTR742) and silky (XI and LT447) films, as well as Lithor LTL247
supplied with Label Mate anti-static lacquer, specially adapted to rotary
printing techniques and end-of-line sheeting and guillotining. The XI and
LT447 films are now closer than ever to paper prices, while offering all these
benefits.
New film for in-mould labelling
ExxonMobil’s 65µ Label-Lyte LT447 film for in-mould labelling (IML) has been
joined by a new 45µ version, Label-Lyte XI447 specially designed for rotary
printing applications.
The Label-Lyte IML range was designed with both end user and converter in
mind. The design of the cavitated white OPP film ensures a smooth finish after
moulding, unlike other materials which often give an “orange peel” finish. The
film’s high gloss finish make it attractive to the eye as well as to the touch.
Both films have excellent anti-static and roughness properties, offering very
good die-cutting performance, good dispensability and excellent printability
on offset and flexo, as well as gravure, presses.
While the thicker 65µ gauge is aimed mostly at sheet-fed offset applications,
the new thinner gauge has been designed for rotary printing.
Patch label films expand
ExxonMobil’s metallised patch label film, 85µ Label-Lyte XP280, launched at
LABELEXPO 2003, has now been joined by white and clear versions.
Metallised Label-Lyte XP280 and white Label-Lyte 95XP547 have been specially
designed for use with water-based glues and offer a unique moisture absorbent
surface and anti-static properties.
Patch labels use classic wet glue technology and are primarily used on glass
bottles and jars. Paper is mostly used for these applications, since it can
absorb the water in the glue and allows the label to dry onto the container.
By using specially adapted films and glues, ExxonMobil Label-Lyte Lithor
films can now be used in these demanding applications.
ExxonMobil’s metallised, white and clear Lithor films provide a very cost
effective solution compared to pressure sensitive labelling and a more durable
label than paper patch labels.
