Applications
Labelling: Household and Detergents

Listed below are some of our films that have been used in typical packaging applications in different markets. Every application is different and the use of any packaging product should be rigorously tested before being used commercially. (See guidelines below.)

The market

Most packaging and bottles for household products and detergents are made of HDPE and PET. To satisfy market evolution, the industry has developed a wide variety of formats to meet the needs of product presentation and the supply and distribution chain. Today, there are very few limits to creativity and bottle shape and appearance offer tremendous opportunities for product differentiation.

The label industry has developed in a similar way and now offers solutions to satisfy most customer requirements. Labels can be printed on white, clear, metallised, shrinkable, matt or gloss substrates. In addition, label printers are able to offer tailor-made solutions.

Labelling technologies

There are a variety of technologies used in this segment :
  • For Self-adhesive labels, we have top coated, white Label-Lyte™ films and super clear films which emphasise bottle and product clarity. Multi-label combinations can provide a "no label" look and three dimensional effects.
  • For Cut & Stack wrap-around labels, we have developed Label-Lyte™ Lithor™ clear , matt and gloss white films which can be used with existing paper labelling machines without additional investment. Labels can also be printed on both sides to satisfy the need for product presentation and customer information.
  • For Reel-fed wrap-around labels, we offer a range of white and clear Label-Lyte™ films for use in single web or laminated structures.
  • For Reel-fed shrink labels, our ROSO™ film, offer a unique solution for the aerosol market, which requires high quality and short run graphics and optimal stock management. ROSO™ films allow shaped containers to be decorated with a film label that shrinks to the contour of the bottle, or can, and is much cheaper solution than shrink sleeves.

Technical data and guidelines presented on this web site are based on tests, experience and information that ExxonMobil Chemical Films believes to be reliable and helpful. The films are presented for consideration but are not intended as a recommendation for use in any particular application. It is impossible to anticipate every application for which the products may be proposed and widely varying user's processing conditions may have significant impact on performance properties. For those reasons it is important that users undertake independent testing in order to verify the suitability of any product for any particular application. Users are also encouraged to discuss potential applications with representatives of ExxonMobil Chemical Films who can consider the specific conditions that may be encountered.
