Improve high-temperature sealing performance in food and beverage containers
Santoprene™ TPVs combine high-temperature sealing performance (70°C to 135°C / 158°F to 275°F) and good compression set to help formulators create packaging and seals that excel in hot-fill and retort applications and other packaging that requires initial pasteurization or sterilization.
Add protection, extend shelf life
Outstanding compression set makes Santoprene TPV an excellent choice for applications ranging from synthetic wine bottle corks to closure liners and cap seals for nutritional and sports beverages. Its good sealing properties at low or high temperatures help protect food and beverages from microbial contamination and help extend packaging shelf life.
In typical seal applications requiring high-temperature resistance and flexibility, use Santoprene™ 171-73 TPV grade. When seal retention and low migration, odor and taste are paramount – along with the ability to resist temperature effects during hot fill and pasteurization – use Santoprene™ 271-xx TPV .These grades are dishwasher safe. All Santoprene TPV cap and closure grades bond to stiff, impact-resistant ExxonMobil™ polypropylene resins for cost effective one- and two-piece caps and closures .
Various Santoprene TPV grades are approved for use in FDA contact applications. Also consider food contact grades of Vistamaxx™ propylene-based elastomer (PBE) for additional cost-effective cap and closure applications.
