Mobility isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. People increasingly depend on reliable transportation to commute to work, visit friends or family, and access the food, goods and services they depend on to live.
As the population grows and more people in developing economies can afford them, the number of cars in the world is expected to more than double to 1.7 billion between 2010 and 2040 (ExxonMobil’s Outlook for Energy). In meeting this demand, the automotive industry needs to balance a number of trends, including enhanced design, better performance, higher safety, improved reliability, end of vehicle life disposal, recycling and lower costs, at a time when the pressure to reduce the environmental impact of cars has never been so great.
Working closely with global automakers, parts manufacturers, tire companies, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and trade associations like the American Chemistry Council Auto Group, Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and The Plastics Industry Association (SPI), we are committed to helping the industry develop high-performance, sustainable solutions.
Our products are playing an increasingly vital part in the automotive industry’s drive to improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduce emissions through lower weight cars, enhanced engine efficiency and tires that perform better. These products can also help reduce energy use and improve scrap recycling during manufacturing (see examples below).
Our performance products are enabling the development of high-quality solutions for the global automotive industry.
