Potential sustainability benefits

Santoprene TPV Sustainability opportunities

Using Vistamaxx™ propylene-based elastomer (PBE) as an additive can contribute to the sustainability of packaging film structures by potentially allowing downgauging. It can also reduce energy consumption during conversion, as lower temperature processing is possible.

When it is used in a polyolefin blend, it can contribute to less overall waste in the manufacturing process, as any scrap produced during processing can be recycled.

In cast polypropylene (cPP) and biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films , the addition of Vistamaxx PBE can improve hermetic seal qualities to deliver enhanced packaging integrity for less waste.

In stretch hood packaging films, typically made with polyethylene (PE) resins, the addition of Vistamaxx PBE can improve toughness and elastic recovery, leading to a reduced film thickness and increased stretch ratio. This can result in better conformability and significant raw material savings.

In film formulations for high density polyethylene (HDPE) shopping and garbage bags, a small dose of Vistamaxx PBE can result in thinner yet stronger films.
