Bromobutyl rubber is an excellent choice for items requiring low permeability to gases and liquids.

The modern radial tire was in many respects made possible through the application of halogenated rubbers such as Exxon bromobutyl rubber in the innerliners. Use of these rubbers in the innerliner compound enabled improvements in air retention performance, improvements in liner-to-tire casing adhesion and improvements in tire durability.

Exxon bromobutyl rubber represents special purpose elastomers requiring special procedures and precautions when processing the materials. Find more information in the Exxon Bromobutyl Rubber Compounding and Applications Manual.
