Using Vistamaxx™ propylene-based elastomer (PBE) as an additive in compounds can contribute to potential sustainability benefits by potentially reducing raw material use, lowering energy consumption and enabling product scrap recycling. Its low density relative to many other polymers can allow the creation of lighter, thin wall products while product properties are maintained.

Vistamaxx PBE can lower compound processing temperatures for reduced energy use and, when used in a polyolefin blend, it can contribute to less overall waste in the manufacturing process, as any scrap produced during processing can be recycled.

Vistamaxx PBE can also be added to recycled polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) blends to help improve their physical properties, such as impact strength, for differentiated recycled products.

Blending 5 to 15% of Vistamaxx PBE with a homopolymer PP (hPP) or random copolymer PP (RCP) can improve the impact strength of storage containers, reducing breakage by up to 20%.
