Marking the 50th anniversary of Vistalon™ EPDM rubber, ExxonMobil Chemical demonstrated its commitment and technology leadership in the EPDM rubber industry at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Rubber Expo™ & Advanced Materials in Health Care , in Cleveland, Ohio in mid October.

ExxonMobil Chemical has been at the forefront of the EPDM rubber industry since it first introduced Vistalon EPDM rubber 50 years ago. Through an ongoing commitment to technology advancement, the Vistalon EPDM portfolio has become renowned for enhanced processing and finished product performance.

To commemorate 50 years of Vistalon EPDM rubber, ExxonMobil Chemical has developed a toolkit of model formulations for application development. Customers can access 50 winning formularies that will help them meet industry specifications in a cost-effective way.

The event’s Technical Meeting featured two presentations from ExxonMobil Chemical on the latest developments in specialty elastomers: 

• “Phosphate Accelerators in the Vulcanization of Ethylene Propylene-Based EPDM Elastomers ” by Brendan Rodgers, senior staff chemist
• “New EPDM Grade with Improved Characteristics for Automotive Hose Applications ” by Mark Welker, staff chemist
